Together, more than 400 Owls and friends gave a combined total of $223,428 to help students during ˿����Ƶ Tech's 2022 Give A Hoot Day fundraising extravaganza! Thank you for joining with so many ˿����Ƶ Tech supporters to create a wave of Blue & Gold generosity supporting university programs and initiatives that enhance educational experiences, benefiting students. The Battle of the Decades was especially fun to watch unfold this week. For the 2nd year in a row, our Alumni Battle of the Decades Champions are…the 2010s!

#CatalyzeKlamath 2022 was a success! Perhaps the most important part of being a student is developing an ability to problem-solve, and these students were in no shortage of creativity! Catalyze Klamath aims to support business ideas and/or fledgling entrepreneurial activity from any field of study that produces a new idea, product or service that could become a thriving business in Klamath Falls, and has the potential for job growth in rural ˿����Ƶ.

Students from the Intercultural Communication class (COM 205) visited Kingsley Field 173rd Fighter Wing to learn more about military culture, specifically the Jet Fighter traditions and rituals. Led by their instructor, AJ Davila a former combat Marine of the Iraq War, students were able to tour areas on base, receive class led instructions by Captain "Fantom" McCoy on operational status and instructions of the basic mission for the F15 "Eagle," and the students even got to see the "Eagle" up close and personal.

Kennedy Jantzi, is a Business Management major and a softball athlete at ˿����Ƶ Tech. For her senior project, she is combining her knowledge of business with her passion for softball in the development of a business plan for a club softball organization she intends to launch after graduation. The business plan includes the start-up, facilities, and training requirements, as well as a competitive analysis, and marketing, recruitment and retention strategies. She is being mentored by Jami Strinz, founder of PNZ Shamrock Softball in ˿����Ƶ.

Two generous grants awarded to ˿����Ƶ Tech this week will assist in completing improvements for outdoor athletic activities and expanding hands-on healthcare instruction. Hoot hoot! DMS Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator Bobbi Kowash has been elected to the Director-at-large position for the Association if Educators in Imaging and Radiologic Science (AEIRS). Bobbi will serve a 3-year term. “My vision for AEIRS is to continue to expand to be a resource, leader and guidance for educators as we evolve with the technologies emerging in the field of Medical Imaging.

Luke Hongel (Mechanical Engineering) and Joshua Moore (Renewable Energy Engineering) are one of the seven teams competing on Thursday in the Catalyze Klamath finals. Watch them on Thursday, April 21, at 4 pm in the College Union Auditorium as they present their Catalyze business, HEMP (Healthy Environmental Materials Products).
