˿Ƶ Tech is a public university recognized as ˿Ƶ's polytechnic based in Klamath Falls and the Portland metropolitan area, with a presence throughout the Pacific Northwest.
˿Ƶ Tech has a dual advising system where students are assigned both a Faculty Advisor (or Primary Advisor) and an Academic Advisor (or Secondary Advisor).
Your Faculty Advisor can talk to you about your field of study and course content within your major. You will need to meet with your faculty advisor once a term to talk about class registration and get your pin for registration.
Your Academic Advisor provides general advising on curriculum maps and school policies, helps you find and use campus resources, and helps you navigate the university.
You can figure out who your faculty and secondary academic advisors are with Web for Student on TechWeb. On Web for Student, go to the Student tab and select Student Registration. From there you can click “Check Your Registration Information”.
You can also find your faculty advisor via DegreeWorks on TechWeb
You can find out who your academic advisor is in two different ways
You should reach out to your Academic Advisor when you have questions about university procedures and policies, need help connecting to campus resources, and/or have any questions you do not know who to ask. That’s what we are here for!
Students are encouraged to meet with their Faculty Advisor at least once a term; prior to registration to discuss classes and degree progress and get their advisor pin.
Faculty Advisors set up their own meetings, so please reach out to your faculty advisor and discuss ways to make a meeting with them. Typically, students will email their Faculty Advisor or go to office hours (which should be posted in every course syllabus).
Appointments are required to meet with your secondary academic advisor. You can make an appointment with your Academic Advisor in a few ways:
˿Ƶ Tech offers a variety of concurrent or dual degrees. Concurrent means you are earning 2 Bachelor of Science degrees at the same time & have at least 36 unique credits for the second degree. Dual means you are earning a single Bachelor of Science with 2 majors. Check with your advisor to see if your major program offers any!
Minors are another great way to add interest areas but are not required. If you are interested in a minor, please connect with your Faculty Advisor. You can also meet with your Academic Advisor to compare programs and see what credits will be applied.
In Web for Student you can check your Registration information. This will let you know who is your Faculty or Academic Advisor. It will let you know what date registration is open for you and any holds you might have.
To find your registration Information, you will log into TechWeb and find the Web for Student Tile. You will then click on Student Menu and then Student Registration.
Your Academic Advisor will notify you when registration opens. If you are unsure about how to register for classes, it’s a good idea to meet with them to explain how to use the course schedule planner, DegreeWorks, how to schedule your classes, and to map out additional terms, if needed.
You can register for classes using the Course Schedule Planner via Tech Web or through Web for Student. Contact your Faculty Advisor for your personal advisor PIN. PIN’s are required for registration. If you can’t reach your Faculty Advisor, contact the Office of Academic Advising.
If you need more assistance, please schedule a meeting with your Academic Advisor to help walk you through the registration process.
DegreeWorks is a web-based degree audit tool that helps students and advisors monitor students’ progress toward degree completion. DegreeWorks combines ˿Ƶ Tech’s degree requirements and individual students’ completed coursework into an easy-to-read worksheet.
Important Note: DegreeWorks is designed to aid and facilitate academic advising but is not intended to replace face-to-face advising sessions.
For more information on how to use DegreeWorks, please see:
Curriculum maps are used to help guide students through their years here at ˿Ƶ Tech. Located in the Academic Catalog (/registrar/catalog), you can find the curriculum map for your degree, which lays out all the degree requirements, the total credit hours, and other important information.
There are a couple of ways to see what classes you need to take for the next term. You can always look at your curriculum map and your DegreeWorks to see what classes you have left to do.
It is strongly recommended that you meet with your Faculty Advisor every term. They will help you select classes for the upcoming term, guide you on replacement classes if a class is full, and will give you your personal advisor PIN.
Your advisor PIN is a series of numbers or letters that are required to login into the registration page and register for classes. Obtain your advisor PIN from your faculty advisor via meeting or email. New Advisor PIN’s are assigned each term.
There may be a few reasons why you are unable to register:
Advisor Pin: You need an advisor pin to register for classes which can be obtained by meeting or emailing your faculty advisor.
Holds: Holds may be restricting you from registration. You can always check your holds via Web for Student > Student Menu > Student Registration > View Holds. This will let you know what the hold is and who to contact to get it resolved. You will need to contact the appropriate office to get any holds lifted.
Campus Restrictions: Some classes are for specific campuses or majors. If you are unable to get into a course due to campus restrictions, please connect with your Faculty or Academic Advisor to see what other options are for classes.
Prerequisites/Co-requisites: You may be unable to register for a course because you have not successfully completed other courses that are required for the class you are trying to register for. Some courses have co-requisites as well, classes that can be taken together in the same term. To check if a course has a pre or co-requisite, you can look at the class descriptions in Search for Classes, your Curriculum Map, or DegreeWorks.
Most courses have a waitlist. We encourage students to waitlist for courses that are full and pick a “back-up” course, in case they are unable to get into their waitlisted courses.
TIP: When meeting with your faculty advisor on next term course selections, ask about different alternative courses to take if classes fill.
As soon as you see a course is missing from the catalog, we ask that you please fill out this survey that reports the missing course to our department:
The sooner you report the missing course, the sooner we can take action to rectify this.
We also encourage you to mention this course to your faculty advisor especially if it is a major-specific course.
An Application for Degree must be signed by your faculty advisor and submitted to the Registrar’s Office at least two terms prior to anticipated graduation. Applications for Degree can be obtained from the Registrar’s Office or on the .
Final grades are typically available the Wednesday after final exams have been administered. You can check your final grades via Web for Student > Unofficial Transcript or DegreeWorks.
Students who have attempted two or more terms at ˿Ƶ Tech and have an ˿Ƶ Tech cumulative GPA below 2.0 will be placed on Academic Probation. Students who have no earned credits, (i.e. all Fs, withdrawals (W) and/or incompletes (I)), for three or more consecutive terms will also be placed on Academic Probation.
The Office of Academic Advising meets regularly with students placed on academic probation to help get them back on track and identify resources available to the student.
While on probation, we recommend that students reflect on why they haven’t been making progress & design a plan for the next term to ensure academic success.
An academic warning is a caution to the student that there is a lack of satisfactory academic progress. Students, including first-term freshmen, who do not achieve a 2.0 in any given term will be placed on Academic Warning. Students who have not earned credits, withdrawals (i.e., all Fs, withdrawals (W) and/or incompletes (I)), for two consecutive terms will also be placed on Academic Warning.
The Office of Academic Advising also reaches out to students on warning to help get them back on track through meetings and resources.
If you are struggling in a class, we encourage you to reach out to your professor first via email or during office hours to discuss how to get back on track.
We also encourage students to reach out to their Faculty and Academic Advisor. Advisors are here to help get you connected to campus resources and discuss the situation.
Some things to consider if dropping or withdrawing from a course is financial aid, credit amount for the term, and course offerings. If you are thinking of dropping or withdrawing from a class, you are encouraged to reach out to your secondary Academic Advisor to discuss the withdrawal or drop.
Pay close attention to the deadlines on the Academic Calendar. Most drop and withdrawal deadlines include a time deadline of 5:00 pm PST.
If you are unsure about your current major or are undecided, you can reach out to your Faculty or Academic Advisor to explore major changes and options.
Additionally, you can always connect with Career Services to explore career and major options. They offer tools to identify skill sets and interest inventories that help gather information to make a decision.
