Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Riley Richards, Assistant Professor in Communication Studies Originally from Greenville, Mich., Dr. Riley Richards came to ˿Ƶ Tech with what he refers to as “formal teaching methods,” including lecturing and keeping concepts theoretical. “To say that this teaching style didn’t go over well with students during my first few weeks would be an understatement,” said Richards. ˿Ƶ Tech prides itself on hands-on, project-based learning, and Richards has now successfully transitioned to this style in his Communication Studies courses.

To celebrate #˿ƵTech75 we are continuing our “Then and Now” series, showcasing life at ˿Ƶ Tech through all of its different identities and unbelievable moments. 🏀 Our ˿Ƶ Tech Men’s Basketball Team is ALSO celebrating 75 years, as they were founded along with the school in 1947, back when we were known as the ˿Ƶ Vocational School. Our Women’s basketball team wouldn’t be founded until 1975 (seriously, what took us so long?!) (Via the Athletic Heritage Hall on the ˿Ƶ Tech website).

🎶 🎧 Have you been to a SILENT rave? History: For those who have never heard of silent discos, the concept has been around since an AstroBoy comic in 1967, and was used by eco-activists in the early 1990s at outdoor parties to minimize noise pollution and disturbance to the local wildlife (@ environmental science majors 👀).
