A Little Bit Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Me
My name is Elycia King, I am 18 years old and the youngest of five. I have lived in Sandy, Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ, for the past 11 years. One of my greatest passions/hobbies is enjoying what God has given us being the outdoors. I love everything to do with mountains and trees, I snowboard, hike, and rock climb. I've also been a member of Multnomah County Search and Rescue for going on 5 years. I have been through the basic 9-month training program, general membership, assistant team leader, and team leader. In this group we strive to spread awareness and in the case of a missing person we actually are out in the field saving lives, as well as helping the sheriff's department with investigations. That's only a little bit about me, but I am so glad I got to share!
Why I Chose Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech and My Major
I chose Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech as the university I wanted to attend with a lot of thought behind it. It had to do with the distance from home, the class sizes, the school in general, the cost, and most importantly that they have the degree I want, especially being through OHSU. This degree was nursing for me, which I chose because of my background in Search and Rescue and my love for helping people!
My Greatest Learning Experience At Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech
My greatest learning experience was at MHCC where I completed early college credits. I got into a pretty bad car accident 2 days before the start of a brand-new term, and I was unable to go back for a few weeks or so. I was devastated since I was on such a good schedule with getting classes finished with great grades. However, since I was unable to attend, I got dropped from my Writing 122 class that I really needed, and it was a serious struggle getting caught up with my other classes. After this event, I learned that life would have these moments when you will struggle but to keep your head up and do everything you can. Because of this, I am a brand-new student at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech with many college credits, including Writing 122 which I finished the next term.
My Plans After Graduation
After graduation, I plan to specialize in trauma nursing and land a job at either Emanual Hospital or another large ER.
