The RoverSub team will show off their new design at IdeaFest on Friday, May 20 on the southside of Cornett Hall from 11 am-2 pm. ˿����Ƶ Tech’s RoverSub team consists of the MMET senior project team and AUVSIR (Autonomous Unmanned Vehicles and Intelligent Robotics) club, will showcase their new experimental vehicle at the 2022 RoboSub Competition (7.26 - 8.04 in Washington D.C). This new ROV is a culmination of sustainable work and engineering ethics practiced over multiple years, allowing the extracurricular team and connected academic projects to create something truly out-of-the-box. #pro

Natalie Gardner, Hannah Keesey, Noah Sharrott, Osama Alqwirey, and Jake Cometto have been hard at work designing a solar system for an off-grid guest house in Philomath, ˿����Ƶ. Due to delays in the permitting and construction process, the group switched to a smaller version geared towards an educational demonstration for children. This is similar to a guest house because it includes the same general components, such as solar panels, battery storage, inverter, charge controller and various loads. One week until IdeaFest Project Symposium- Portland-Metro where students inspire with their innovation and dedication. Senior projects are designed to challenge students with real-world business problems, as well as give them an opportunity to gain industry experience prior to graduation. Our Tech Opportunities Program (TOP) powers the potential of first-generation students, low-income students, and students with disabilities who demonstrate academic need. Last week a special event honored 107 TOP students who achieved a 3.30 grade point average or above in fall or winter terms. The average age of ˿����Ƶ Tech TOP students is 26, and nearly two-thirds are low income and first-generation students. In addition to challenging coursework, nontraditional students often have partners, full-time jobs, and children to care for.
