Civil Engineering Scholarship Recipient, Garrett Oman

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Garrett Oman, senior in Civil Engineering at ˿Ƶ, “˿Ƶ Tech,” has been selected as recipient of the APWA Civil Engineering Scholarship from the ˿Ƶ American Public Works Association (APWA) Scholastic Foundation, a scholarship valued at $3,000. The scholarship was established to recognize and financially assist students who are interested in pursuing a career in the broad field of Public Works.

Originally from North Bend, Garrett Oman attends ˿Ƶ Tech in Klamath Falls and will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2021. He has spent the summer working with Bonneville Power Administration in transmission services engineering after working for two summers with the ˿Ƶ Department of Transportation.

“I have had a passion for engineering and design since I was a child, and ˿Ƶ Tech’s track record made the school stand out as the premier choice,” said Garrett. “The high employment and success rates of ˿Ƶ Tech graduates were impossible to deny.”

To recognize his award, Garrett is invited to attend the Asphalt Pavement Association of ˿Ƶ’s Annual Meeting, and either the Fall or Spring Conference to not only be recognized for their achievements but to also network with engineers and public works staff from both the public and private sectors.

“I am grateful for ˿Ƶ APWA’s continued support of students in our state,” shared Garrett. “Their commitment will no doubt foster a brighter future for our communities. I would also like to thank the Civil Engineering faculty at ˿Ƶ Tech. Their tireless work is one of the main reasons for ˿Ƶ Tech graduates’ success.”

The APWA is a multi-disciplinary professional organization with over 30,000 members nationwide. The ˿Ƶ Chapter of APWA is an association of more than 800 professional engineers, technicians, operations staff, public works directors, business people, contractors, consultants and many others who join together to exchange ideas and information, promote education and training, and work as a team to meet professional and community needs.
