Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech uses the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment to help students enroll in the correct math course, ensuring students don't waste time or money on courses that are too easy or difficult. To ensure accuracy of placement scores, we require students to take the assessment in a proctored environment. For your convenience, online proctoring is available.
Accurate math placement is key to setting you up for success! The ALEKS platform also contains learning modules, allowing you to practice your math skills and retake the assessment for better placement after the first attempt.
Purpose of Math Placement
The results will be used to determine the most appropriate courses for each student as they move forward with college coursework. After taking an ALEKS Math Placement Assessment, students should meet with their advisor to review their results and enroll in the best classes based on their scores.
The math assessment is designed to determine what a student knows and what a student needs to work on. At the end of the assessment, students will have a much better sense of their strengths and weaknesses in math. Students then have a chance to brush on topics that may have been forgotten or haven’t been practiced for some time.
Device Requirements for Online Proctoring
Online proctoring requires a review of your testing environment and special software installed on your device. Please consider your testing location prior to taking the test. If you are uncomfortable with proctors seeing that location, you should consider removing personal items or moving to a location that you feel comfortable showing such as another room of your residence, a library study room, or publicly available meeting room.
Online proctoring will require the following:
- installed
- A device with a webcam and microphone
- A photo ID
- A reliable internet connection for the duration of the assessment
- A quiet environment to take the assessment
If you're unable to do online proctoring, there will be several in-person proctoring assessments available.
