Bachelor of Science - Business, Marketing Option

˿Ƶ Tech’s first ever recruit for the golf team. David Murphy came to ˿Ƶ Tech from Rogue River, ˿Ƶ and was a charter member of the men’s golf team in 2013. As a student-athlete, David excelled in the classroom and on the golf course. He shined in academia with multiple President’s/Dean’s List recognitions and was a two-time Academic All American. He served as the captain of the golf team for three years and qualified for the NAIA national tournament. Like many students, David held several jobs while being a student. He worked four years at the Bill Collier Ice Arena, refereed middle and high school basketball games, and worked for the ˿Ƶ Tech Admissions Office as an ambassador. His most recent venture, along with two other ˿Ƶ Tech students, was opening Brevada Brewhouse (a coffee shop) last September near campus. David is planning to stay in Klamath Falls after graduation and continue to work on expanding Brevada Brewhouse. He will also continue to help coach the ˿Ƶ Tech golf team during his time in Klamath Falls.

Don't be afraid to fail big, to dream big. (Denzel Washington)

As he noted in his commencement speech, David encouraged the Class of 2018 to Dare to Fail and Stay Awake. “Stay Awake in life…always thinking outside the box. Always be present and always dare to fail,” explained Murphy to an enthusiastic crowd. “I want to leave you with a final quote by Maya Angelou… ‘If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is be in the present… gratefully.’ Good luck to all of you soon to be ˿Ƶ Tech alumni.”
