Extracurricular Activities

Among my extracurricular activities, I am a Resident Advisor at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech since 2021, a Kappa Xi Alpha sister for three years, a member of the Vascular Club, and a Teachers Assistant in a Vascular Technology sophomore class.

A Little Bit Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Me

I am a 21-year-old native Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵian who has spent most of her life living in Silverton. In the year 2020, I became Mount Angel's Junior First Citizen and was Valedictorian of my high school class! I have a 13-year-old brother who is extremely important to me and whom I strive to be a good role model for. The last two years have been a wonderful experience for me as a Resident Advisor here on campus, and I have made many friends! Additionally, I have just completed my minor in Art, Literature, and Philosophy due to my passion for learning about things other than my primary field of study.

Why I Chose Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech and My Major

My decision to attend Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech and major in Medical Imaging was driven by the knowledge that I'd receive a high-quality education here. I was assured by everyone I spoke with that Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech would prepare me to attain my academic goals. In addition to the small student population, the faculty-to-student ratio encouraged me to attend because I'd be able to establish close relationships with my professors.

My Influential Professors

My most influential professors are Leah Jolly and our former Ultrasound Physics professor, Tanya McVay. Professor Jolly's passionate about our modality and exceptionally knowledgeable, while also being patient, kind, and supportive of her students. As a result of her guidance, I've learned that it's okay to not always be perfect, but to put in the effort and show grace towards myself. From Dr. McVay's influence, I've always strived to go above and beyond in my academic pursuits. She helped me thrive in my sophomore year of college by sharing her passion for the ultrasound field with her students, and she continues to influence my learning today.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech

My greatest learning experience has been that life's more than just academics. Among the most memorable moments I've had here at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech are spontaneous with people I love and care about. Due to my limited time on campus, I've had to embrace the "college experience" and make as many memories as possible while I'm here. While studying and getting good grades are important to me, I've realized that the people I meet and the impact I've made on people are equally valuable. Life is more about the journey than the destination.

My Plans After Graduation

Once I have completed my degree, I hope to work for an esteemed hospital and continue to educate myself about pathology. I am considering applying to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota or working a few more years to pursue a position at a hospital or clinic in New Zealand. No matter where I end up, I hope to be knowledgeable in my field and gain as much experience as possible, hopefully cross-training into other modalities such as Diagnostic Medical Imaging and Echocardiography.
