WV2017Grads
The Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ (Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech) Class of 2017 moved their graduation tassels to the left on Sunday, June 18th as new president, Dr. Nagi Naganathan concluded the 31st annual commencement ceremony held at the Wilsonville campus. The Class of 2017 includes 200 individuals, some who received multiple degrees, amounting to 208 degrees awarded. This is inclusive of those who have completed degree requirements last Summer and Fall, Winter and Spring Terms this academic year and those who are expected to complete requirements this Summer.

This year included feature speaker, Senator Richard Devlin, who serves Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ State Legislature, District 19. Senator Devlin is a former member of the Tualatin Parks Advisory Committee, the Tualatin City Council, and the Metro Council. During his two terms on the Metro Council, he chaired regional committees on green space conservation, intergovernmental relations, land use, transportation, and water issues. Throughout his career, Senator Devlin has been a leading advocate on education and child safety issues.

Additional speakers on behalf of the university included Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech Class of 1963 alum, Curtis Langer, and graduating speaker, Operations Management graduate Alexsis Hundley Kennaday.

In addition to President Naganathan, Student Awards were presented by Dr. Erin Foley, Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students.

During this event, Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech also honored administration who have given at least 10 years to the university. This included Emeritus Administrator Lita Colligan, Associate Vice President for Strategic Partnerships & Government Relations, 10 years and Emeritus President Lawrence Wolf, Professor of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology, who served Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech for 26 years, and who also led Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech as its 4th President, from 1991 to 1998.

The Class of 2017 has a great future ahead of them with 90 percent of Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech graduates employed or in highly competitive graduate or professional programs within six months of graduation. The high return on investment is reinforced by the $54,000 starting median salary those graduates earn. This brings the three year rolling average to 95% employed and $56,000 per year.
