The ˿Ƶ (˿Ƶ Tech) Foundation Board welcomed a new member recently. Jim Hackett is a retired sales and marketing professional who resides in Klamath Falls.
The ˿Ƶ Tech Foundation Board of Directors is comprised of alumni, community members, and business and industry professionals. They counsel the Foundation on supporting the educational, cultural, charitable, and service activities of ˿Ƶ.
Joining the Board of Directors, Jim Hackett brings a variety of career experiences after nearly 50 years in the building materials industry. Over half of his career was spent in the employ of JELD-WEN where he served in director and vice president roles of Sales and Marketing. Jim completed his career with Alliance Door Products where he served as general manager at the Wilsonville branch and later as vice president of Sales for their three operations in the Pacific Northwest.
Hackett officially retired in 2020 and he and his wife, Lynn, returned to their home in Klamath Falls. Since returning, Jim has started to volunteer with the Rotary Club of Klamath County, and has a keen interest in getting more involved in the community.
“Having lived in several parts of the country during my career, I have come to realize and appreciate what a special place this is and what it has to offer,” shared Hackett. “It seems that finally Klamath Falls is being discovered and a critical part of that discovery involves the ˿Ƶ. I find it very rewarding to be a part of the continued cultivation in getting the word out about what a great university this is and what a critical asset it is to this town and to aspiring students seeking professional degrees.”
The ˿Ƶ Tech Foundation raises funds and gathers many other forms of support for the endowment, scholarships, capital projects, and much more. Committed to excellence in science, technology, and health professions education, the Foundation works not simply to help ˿Ƶ Tech grow but to grow with intention and in ways that foster a better education and experience for students and a brighter future for ˿Ƶ and beyond.
As of Dec. 31, 2020, the ˿Ƶ Tech Foundation had awarded approximately $900,000 through 326 scholarships for the year.
