Salem, OR – On Tuesday, the ˿Ƶ Senate confirmed two new trustees for the governing board of the ˿Ƶ “˿Ƶ Tech”: Rosalind “Rose” McClure, associate professor of Natural Sciences, and Grace Rusth, academic partnerships coordinator for ˿Ƶ Tech. With their official terms beginning July 1, the new Trustees will join their colleagues for the Board retreat on August 13-14.
There are eleven At-Large positions on the Board, three positions filled by Faculty, Staff and Student members, and an ex-officio position held by ˿Ƶ Tech’s President Nagi Naganathan, for a total of fifteen members. Ms. McClure is filling a vacant Faculty position and will serve for a 2-year term. Ms. Rusth is replacing Mr. Bill Goloski in the Staff position, and will serve throughout the remainder of that 2-year term on the Board. The Board Chair forwarded their applications to the Governor’s Office earlier this year; both were approved for confirmation by the Senate by Governor Brown’s Office.
Ms. McClure is currently an associate professor in the Natural Sciences department. During her 18-year tenure, she has taught a variety of courses including Human Anatomy & Physiology, Introduction to General Chemistry, Introduction to Medical Laboratory Sciences, and Immunology. In addition, she served as the Natural Sciences Department Chair, advocating for students and faculty on the Klamath Falls, Portland-Metro and Seattle-Boeing campuses. She has been recognized for her dedication and passion for helping students with the ˿Ƶ Community Foundation Award for Outstanding Teaching & Advising and the ˿Ƶ Tech Foundation Faculty Achievement Award for Teaching Excellence. She holds a Master of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of North Dakota. Prior to teaching, she worked for thirteen years in the healthcare profession as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
Ms. Rusth is an academic partnerships coordinator within Academic Affairs and the Office of Academic Agreements and has been with ˿Ƶ Tech since 2011. As an ˿Ƶ Tech alumna (Applied Psychology, 2009) and US Army veteran she brings a diverse perspective to ˿Ƶ Tech operations. She is currently working on her Doctorate of Education, Leadership in Higher Education with ˿Ƶ State University and expects to complete her degree June 2020. Ms. Rusth is passionate about early and equitable access to higher education and serves on a variety of forums and committees throughout the community.
