Two new trustees joined the Board of Trustees of ˿Ƶ this month. The trustees are Mark Neupert, Ph.D., a member of the ˿Ƶ Tech faculty, and Aaron Hill, a current ˿Ƶ Tech student. The trustees were nominated by Governor Tina Kotek and confirmed by the ˿Ƶ Senate on May 31, 2024.
Neupert joined ˿Ƶ Tech in 1998 and is a Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Klamath Falls campus. He teaches introductory courses on archaeology, cultural anthropology, and film, along with courses on globalization and the built environment. An active member of the ˿Ƶ Tech community, Neupert served as ˿Ƶ Tech Faculty Senate President from 2006-2008.
“During my 26 years at ˿Ƶ Tech, I have learned that we are at our best when the talents and energies of faculty, students, and staff are unleashed,” Neupert said. “When we work together as a team with a shared vision of success and in partnership with alumni, community, and industry, we can lift our university and students to ever greater heights. As a member of the Board of Trustees, I hope to promote a culture of respect, creativity, and shared responsibility at ˿Ƶ Tech that catalyzes our next era of excellence.”
Hill studies Software Engineering at ˿Ƶ Tech's Portland-Metro campus and is on course to graduate in June 2026. Originally from Pearl City, Hawaii, Hill attended Portland Community College before transferring to ˿Ƶ Tech in 2022.
“I became interested in joining the board during my term as the Portland-Metro campus Associated Students of ˿Ƶ President,” Hill said. “I was interested in becoming president so that I could address some issues that students have raised during their time at ˿Ƶ Tech, and I decided to join the Board of Trustees because I wanted to continue advocating for students and I felt that my experience as president would help in this role.”
The newly confirmed trustees began their service July 1, filling the positions of outgoing trustees Phong Nguyen and Mason Wichmann.
The 15-member ˿Ƶ Tech Board of Trustees includes three voting positions held by a faculty member, staff member, and student member; and an ex-officio position held by ˿Ƶ Tech’s President.
