🎓 Alumni Spotlight: Class of 2024 🎓 From Mexico to Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech, José Ignacio Garcia’s journey is a testament to perseverance. Moving to the U.S. at 14, José overcame language barriers and cultural differences. His journey in higher education began at George Fox University, but due to costs, he transferred to Clackamas Community College, where he completed his general education courses and earned his associate degree. A visit to Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech with his sister sealed his next step. "I just felt at home," José says, choosing the school for its strong engineering program and opportunity to continue competing in track & field, especially javelin. At Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech, José balanced his electrical engineering studies with his passion for athletics. He also became involved in campus life, joining clubs like the Latino Club and Submarine Club and participating in career fairs. As graduation neared, José, with help from Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech Career Services, focused on landing a job in his field. His hard work paid off with an offer from EPC (a project management company) as a Field Test Engineer, where he now works on electrical substations nationwide. José's story is about perseverance, community, and giving back. As a first-generation college graduate, he’s determined to inspire other students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds.
