While pursuing his graduate degrees at Georgia Tech, Dr. Sean St.Clair was fortunate to gain experience as an instructor, teaching statics and dynamics, and as a structural designer with Starzer Brady Fagan Associates in Atlanta Georgia. Both of these positions prepared him to join the faculty at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ in 2004 where he is currently a professor and chaired the Civil Engineering Department from 2009 to 2019. Under his leadership, the department won the prestigious ASCE Walt LeFevre Award in 2013. Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech was granted the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi under Dr. St.Clair’s leadership in 2018.
Sean became active in ASEE while in graduate school, winning an Apprentice Faculty Grant in 2003. After moving to Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ, he became heavily involved in the Pacific Northwest Section serving as Chair from 2009 to 2011 and Section Campus since 2012. He was elected to Zone IV Chair and served from 2016 to 2018, during which time he also served on ASEE’s national board of directors. He won the Pacific Northwest Section Best Paper Award in 2016, the Zone IV Best Paper award in 2017, and the National Best Zone Paper Award in 2018. He was then invited to present this paper at the main plenary session of the 2018 Annual Conference. Dr. St.Clair also won the Pacific Northwest Section Outstanding Teacher Award in 2015.
Dr. St.Clair is heavily involved with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). He has served on the FE Exam Development Committee for more than a decade writing and reviewing hundreds of questions for the national exam. He is also a member of the Education Committee of NCEES.
Sean is a licensed engineer in Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ and Vice-Chair of the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying.
