Ethics Certificate Overview

The certificate program provides students with advanced ethical reasoning skills – “soft skills” that are highly valued by employers across the professions. The Certificate in Applied Ethics shows you are prepared for the ethical challenges that your profession will present.

The Certificate in Ethics requires two core Philosophy courses and four electives, some of which might be courses in your major. Electives can be found in a wide
variety of areas, including:

Courses

To satisfy the program’s 18-credit requirement, 6 credits must be earned by completing both of the program’s core courses, at least 3 credits must be earned by completing one of the elective courses within the program that is 300 level and has a PHIL prefix, and the remaining 9 credits can be satisfied by completing any other 100-200 level courses or 300-400 level courses among the program’s electives. Students must complete 18 credits to receive the certificate.
