Student Success Seminars
Fall Seminar:
New TOP first-year students are required to participate in the fall TOP Student Success Seminar. This one-credit class is designed to help students transition to Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech, form connections with other students, get to know faculty and staff, learn about campus resources, and strengthen skills for college success.
Students will register for the class during the application process to TOP. The class is free for TOP students.
Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ the class:
ACAD 107 is our TOP Motivating Success academic course that you will take in fall along with the other new students. This class is worth one credit and will build on your experience with even more academic success information and learning experiences.
This course is a specially designed seminar to introduce TOP students into the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech academic community and allow for opportunities to learn and practice skills and strategies for academic success. Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech is committed to student success and this course will be the first link for many students to resources and knowledge necessary for success. This Student Success Seminar course will assist and support students in becoming successful college students through exposure to collegiate life, goal clarification, resources and support systems, the learning process, health and wellness issues, and other common issues faced by first-year students. It will also assist students with integrating themselves into college life and culture, both in and out of the classroom. ACAD 207 uses a variety of resources and will include guest speakers, individual study and reflection, and other methods of exploring issues.
Winter Seminar:
All TOP students are invited to participate in the winter TOP Student Success Seminar. This one-credit class is designed to help students in their scholarship application process, improve writing skills, and learn about several financial literacy topics.
Students will register for the class during fall term through a link send by TOP staff. The class is free for TOP students.
Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ the class:
ACAD 207 is our TOP Learning about Scholarships academic course that you can take in winter along with the other TOP students. This class is worth one credit and will build on your financial literacy and scholarship application skills.
This course is a specially designed seminar to introduce TOP students into the world of financial responsibility and scholarship applications and allow for opportunities to learn and practice skills and strategies for financial success. Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech is committed to student financial success and this course will be a great link for many students to resources and knowledge necessary for success. This Student Success Seminar course will assist and support students in becoming fiscally successful college students through exposure to scholarship writing and editing, activity chart building, Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech Foundation representative speakers, budgeting, understanding credit, income planning, and more. It will also assist students with completing and submitting the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech Foundation scholarship. ACAD 207 uses a variety of resources and will include guest speakers, individual study and reflection, and other methods of exploring issues.
Spring Seminar:
All TOP students are invited to participate in the spring TOP Student Success Seminar. This one-credit class is designed to help students in their graduate school application process, and career readiness.
Students will register for the class during winter term through a link send by TOP staff. The class is free for TOP students.
Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ the class:
ACAD 207 is our TOP Career and Grad School academic course that you can take in spring along with the other TOP students. This class is worth one credit and will build student's confidence in applying to graduate school and career opportunities.
This course is a specially designed seminar to introduce TOP students into the world of graduate school and career pathways and allow for opportunities to learn and practice skills and strategies for post-undergrad success. Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech is committed to student success and this course will be a great link for many students to resources and knowledge necessary for success. This Student Success Seminar course will assist and support students in becoming successful graduates through exposure to graduate applications, resume building, LinkedIn development, and more. ACAD 207 uses a variety of resources and will include guest speakers, individual study and reflection, and other methods of exploring issues.
