State Licensure Requirements

Below are licensure requirements by state along with how your Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech degree may assist with license eligibility.

Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech's Bachelor of Science in Geomatics, Surveying option prepares graduates for the Fundamentals of Surveying exam offered through the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). Surveyors who've passed the FS exam and have at least four years of professional experience may qualify for the Practice of Surveying exam with the NCEES. Our online program is open to new surveyors just starting their careers as well as experienced surveyors with years spent in the industry.

The NCEES provides to each state's requirements; the state websites should always be used as the primary source of information when reviewing license requirements.

State Licensure Requirements

Graduates of Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech's program are eligible for the Land Surveyor-In-Training upon completion of the NCEES FS examination and may seek licensure as a Land Surveyor in California after passing the NCEES FS and PS examinations and meeting additional requirements.

Surveyors seeking licensure in Idaho should complete Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech's online bachelor degree program program and sit for the FS examination through NCEES in order to qualify for a Land Surveyor Intern certificate in Idaho. Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor in Idaho includes graduation from a four year program such as Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech's, passage of the FS and PLS exams through the NCEES, plus four years of additional office and field work.

North Dakota's State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors offers a Surveyor Intern license for graduates of an ABET accredited Surveying program who have passed the FS exam with the NCEES. The Professional Land Surveyor license requires four years of field experience beyond graduation from an ABET accredited Surveying program.

Graduates of Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech's program may apply to the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveyors (OSBEELS) as a Land Surveying Intern upon passage of the NCEES FLS examination. Candidates for the Professional Land Surveyor exam must have passed the NCEES FLS and PLS examinations, an Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ-specific exam, have graduated from an ABET accredited 4-year program (like Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech's) and have 3 years of qualifying experience.

Washington's Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors (BRPELS) offers a Land Surveyor-In-Training certificate to those who have passed the NCEES FS examination. Licensure as a Land Surveyor requires completion of additional examinations. Please see the BRPELS site for details.

Graduates of Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech's program may apply to Wyoming's Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors as a Land Surveyor Intern upon passage of the FS exam with the NCEES. Professional Land Surveying licensure by examination requires the PS exam with the NCEES, Wyoming specific examinations, and four years of surveying experience beyond the Land Surveyor Intern requirement.
