A Little Bit Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Me
I'm a non-traditional female student with many lifetimes before finding my field of interest. I was a psychology degree dropout followed by several customer service positions. Customer service comes naturally to me stemming from being the eldest of my family which fostered my ability to care for others. This skill set translates perfectly to patient care for me. I truly believe when you set your mind to it and put in the hard work, all things are possible. I rebooted my educational career in 2019, received my Associate of Science in 2022, and will be graduating with my Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technology in 2025.
Why I Chose Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech and My Major
I fell in love with the applications of Medical Imaging and Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech is the top school in Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ that offers a variety of imaging modalities including Nuclear Medicine. Another reason I chose Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech is that I have a friend who graduated some years ago from the DMS program and has a wonderful life working at the Kaiser in Portland. I saw his success and knew I could gain that through Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech.
My Influential Professors
My most influential professor here at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech is Rick Hoylman. He is our director of Nuclear Medicine, and I can't sing his praises enough. He has a way of connecting and engaging with the class on a level that we will all understand. I find this extremely important with topics as complicated and in depth as ours. He has a true skill of reaching us and explaining concepts in ways we can understand. I'm very thankful for a professor like him.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech
I believe because I am a non-traditional student, I bring real life experiences to the student population. I am a Residence Advisor in the Resident Hall this year 2023-2024. I found that those very first experiences on campus can make or break a student's experience and willingness to stay. Making connections with staff, other students, and resources helped me stay involved and part of the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Tech community. I am excited to facilitate that sense of community for my fellow students.
My Plans After Graduation
Next June I will be assigned an externship. I look forward to the opportunity to adventure somewhere new. The intention is to get a job at the facility and from there I will be able to be a travel tech. Once I have mastered my craft, I would like to open my own cardiac clinic in honor of my father.
